What is Solomon's Mosaic?

On the 20^th anniversary of Operation Solomon- one of the greatest achievements in modern day Jewish history since the establishment of the State of Israel- we invite you to join the celebration through your participation in Solomon's Mosaic.

On May 24^th, 1991, 14,325 Ethiopian Jews fulfilled their dreams of making it to their homeland, as they were airlifted from Ethiopia to Israel in 36 hours of non-stop flights. In commemoration of this unrivaled event in history, Jewish internet history is being made, as the assemblage of Solomon’s Mosaic officially begins. Today, you have the opportunity to be a part of this unparalleled communal effort!

When completed, Solomon’s Mosaic will be an online collage honoring Israel and Ethiopian Jewry. The Mosaic will be a virtual ingathering of individuals, organizations, businesses, schools, federations, youth groups, camps, museums, synagogues, newspapers and more, assembled together as a virtual mosaic in tribute to Operation Solomon’s 20^th Anniversary. The Mosaic unites those who care, raises awareness about Ethiopian Jewry and the wondrous Operation Solomon; and most importantly, it benefits Ethiopian Jews in Israel today, as the purchase of each tile will support programs that enable Ethiopian-Israeli teenagers to fulfill their extraordinary potential which has yet to be fully tapped.

The Mosaic consists of a total of 10,000 tiles, representing the number of Ethiopian Jewish children who arrived in Israel during this historical moment of Jewish history. Each individual tile may be purchased with a contribution of $36- double chai, representing the 36 hours of 36 non-stop planeloads carrying the newcomers to Jerusalem, after 2,500 years of living in separation from their beloved Jerusalem.
